They have the ability to cut curves, remove very small amounts of material for proper fitting, and cut through just about any material with the appropriate blade. Now, it&#8217;s the latest Ridgid 18V Cordless Jigsaw&#8217;s turn to show off what it has to offer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-ridgid-18v-cordless-jigsaw-performance\">Ridgid 18V Cordless Jigsaw Performance<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.protoolreviews.com\/wp-content\/smush-webp\/2023\/08\/IMG_8049-800x600.jpg.webp\" alt=\"Ridgid 18V Cordless Jigsaw\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>No-Load Speed: 3,450 SPM<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Stroke Length: 1 in.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Blade Type: T-Shank<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Blade Changes: Keyless<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Ridgid&#8217;s latest cordless jigsaw features four speed modes with a top speed of 3,450 max SPM. That puts its cutting speed right in line with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.protoolreviews.com\/ryobi-hp-brushless-jigsaw-review-pbljs01\/\">Ryobi brushless model<\/a>, and trailing right behind the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.protoolreviews.com\/milwaukee-m18-fuel-jig-saw-2737-21-review\/\">Milwaukee M18 2737<\/a>. Additionally, this model has a 1-inch stroke length, allowing it to quickly and efficiently chew through material.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.protoolreviews.com\/wp-content\/smush-webp\/2023\/08\/Ridgid-18V-Cordless-Jigsaw-05-800x600.jpg.webp\" alt=\"Speed Control\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Variable speed controls aren&#8217;t new to jig saws, but Ridgid nails it with their placement. Ridgid placed a small blister button on the top of the D-handle, so it&#8217;s easy to cycle through the speeds using your thumb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ridgid R86344 has four orbital action settings that affect the overall cutting speed. If you&#8217;re looking for faster cut-speed, the most aggressive action is where you&#8217;ll want to turn. However, if you&#8217;re looking for a better finish, dial back the orbital action for a less aggressive cut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.protoolreviews.com\/wp-content\/smush-webp\/2023\/08\/Ridgid-18V-Cordless-Jigsaw-07-800x600.jpg.webp\" alt=\"Orbital Action Dial\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>If you&#8217;re making longer cuts or working around a complex series of cuts, the lock on button is a fantastic addition. The ability to not worry about keeping the trigger down and just focusing on maneuvering the saw is a win in our book.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When it comes to vibration, it&#8217;s roughly the same as what we&#8217;re feeling from the more premium models. Due to the nature of the tool, you can&#8217;t eliminate it completely. (with 4.0Ah Max Output battery)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Length: 8.5 in.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Height: 8.5 in.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Handle Type: D-handle<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ridgid R86344 weighs 4.4 pounds as a bare tool and a very reasonable 5.9 pounds with the recommended 4.0Ah Max Output battery. It stands 8.5 inches tall and is, oddly enough, 8.5 inches long as well. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.protoolreviews.com\/wp-content\/smush-webp\/2023\/08\/Ridgid-18V-Cordless-Jigsaw-06-800x600.jpg.webp\" alt=\"Ridgid Jigsaw ergonomics\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The D-handle frame is draped in a textured rubber overmold that provides excellent grip during intricate cuts. Compared to previous Ridgid jigsaws, the top handle is more rounded, so it contours nicely to your hand in a variety of positions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ridgid tells us that they redesigned the die-cast shoe to help reduce vibration and increase visibility. They also include a non-marring shoe cover to avoid scuffing and scratching your work surface. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>Reviewer&#8217;s Note:<\/strong> Ridgid&#8217;s non-marring shoe cover includes two spaces on the inside for spare blades.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.protoolreviews.com\/wp-content\/smush-webp\/2023\/08\/Ridgid-18V-Cordless-Jigsaw-08-800x600.jpg.webp\" alt=\"Dust port and bevel adjustment\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Just like the previous model, the bevel adjustment is tool-free. The shoe pivots up to 45\u00b0 left and right with positive stops at common angles. Additionally, there&#8217;s an integrated dust port with a corresponding vacuum attachment. While the cut line blower might work against it in some respects, it&#8217;s a nice feature to have, particularly for fine finish cutting and fiber cement board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-ridgid-18v-cordless-jig-saw-price\">Ridgid 18V Cordless Jig Saw Price<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This&nbsp;Ridgid 18V Jigsaw retails for $179 as a bare tool and comes with their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.protoolreviews.com\/how-ridgid-lifetime-service-agreement-works\/\">Lifetime Service Agreement<\/a> when <a href=\"https:\/\/register.ridgidpower.com\/support\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow noopener\">registered<\/a> within 90 days of purchase. Currently, there are no kit options available. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-bottom-line\">The Bottom Line<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Overall, we think Ridgid hit the mark with the performance and design upgrades on their latest cordless jigsaw. The cutting speed, vibration level, and feature set are right on par with what we expect from entry-level pro and prosumer models.
